Contemporary Propaganda

According to dictionary.com, propaganda is information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.

Shepard Fairy's propaganda poster titled, "Eye Alert", is his response to the state of health care reform in the U.S.

I feel that the individual in this poster has a skull in the center of their eye because they are symbolically seeing the many people who are dying in America due to those who are improperly handling our health care system. I also believe that the dollar symbol combined with the crimson red color in this image symbolizes the blood money that is being made by the corrupted health care industry and the upside down doctors' symbol in the teardrop shows how money is being put ahead of a person's well-being.

All in all, I feel that this poster is very effective with communicating its message of empathy for the citizens living in the United States who are sick but are not receiving health care.

Helvetica Movie

This film brought to my attention that the Helvetica typeface is all around us. If I had not of watched this movie I would probably have never realized this in my travels. It is simply astonishing to me how much time, dedication, creativity, and thought goes into creating a sans-serif typeface such as this one.

Milton Glaser Film 1/12/10

I feel that Milton Glaser's, "I Love New York", logo was brilliantly thought up. This simple well known design is very eye-catching and will be iconic for years to come.
